Rose Cousins is a folk-pop singer-songwriter, born and raised on the east coast of Canada on Prince Edward Island. Currently based in Halifax, N.S., Cousins’ passion for music is fueled by her love of musical collaboration.
Rose Cousins has developed a consistent track record of deeply emotional, often painfully honest, catchy songs over the course of nine albums. Cousins’ 2012 album, We Have Made A Spark, celebrated her Boston community and featured a cast of musicians Cousins had known and played music with for over a decade. The album won a JUNO Award, three East Coast Music Awards, a Canadian Folk Music Award, was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, and made “Best Of” lists in USA Today, NPR Music and Oprah Magazine. Her music has also found its way onto several TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy.
Cousins’ newest album, Bravado, is the sound of a heart trying to open. It explores the complication of emotion, its irrational tendencies and its wisdom. The album invites us to feel the courage it takes to be vulnerable. Bravado made its debut on Feb. 21, 2020, distributed by Outside Music.
