Alex Kusturok is a third-generation fiddler from Winnipeg, Man. Kusturok found himself enriched by the Métis fiddle from a very young age. Kusturok’s passionate playing is influenced by Québecois and Cape Breton fiddle styles, but his Métis culture remains at the forefront of his style. His father, from Wabigoon Lake First Nation in Ontario, made sure that Alex learned about his Indigenous heritage. Between his mother’s fiddle and his father’s guitar, there is no question that Alex would take to the stage and continue his family’s musical tradition. Alex is in high demand as a performer, instructor and competition judge across Canada.
